Wrap me in this green blanket
That stands the test of time
And wears loosely over my hurt shoulders
And grips the sides of the bed I sleep on
and keeps me safe from harm
Wrap me in this green blanket at my death and in my life
both matter but not one more than the other
And how we do both matters more than time
Wrap me in this green blanket that knows what really matters is not stuff and delivery trucks and mind-numbing fears
What matters is if we can only help one person even small
that matters as much as the tears
Wrap me in this green blanket to borrow from yesterday what has meaning today
in the moments of our very short years
