If you see the water in my eyes, you will know it is the rain that never came

So many sorrows

in the lives of sparrows

and sunsets

landing

on the eyelids

of the children

who cannot sleep

Voices heard in the hallways

at the dawn of new days

when the prayers in the night on our knees

get repeated

over and over and over

The wait

the wait

for the waters rushing to seas

The promise

of hushes

and go to sleep

dear one

All is well

All is well

All is well

even when

the tears never came

Breathe deep

and know

still

all is well

and let the tears

come as rain
